Counseling

Approach

I have an integrative counseling approach, in which I draw from a variety of treatment modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, relational therapy, solutions-focused therapy, and Christian counseling. That being said, you’re the paying client, so from the very beginning, you get to decide your goals for counseling, and I use your own personal goals to guide the course of treatment. And then I will regularly check back in with you to see if we are reaching your goals according to your satisfaction, and if your goals change along the way, that is okay too. Overall, I try to provide a good balance of both client-centered and structured therapy sessions, and I try to be open and flexible as goals and life situations may change along the way. I also believe that you will get as much out of counseling as you are willing to put into it, so the more motivated you are, the deeper questions will go and the more I will provide you with “homework” and additional resources.

Areas of Interest

It’s really important to find the right counselor for you, and that means someone who you can connect with, and also someone who is well equipped for your specific need. Reading the list below may help you to see if I’m the right fit for you. If you’re still unsure, feel free to call or email me and we can decide together. Additionally, if we have a couple sessions together, and you or I don’t feel like it’s a good fit, or you’re needing someone with a different set of skills, I am happy to refer you to a different counselor (and will in no way be offended).
